24th Annual Great Chowder Debate
Looking for the best chowder on the east coast? Satisfy your passion for great seafood at the Conch House Marina’s celebrated annual Great Chowder Debate. More than 30 area restaurants come together to compete to see who has the best chowder. Sample an almost limitless variety – from local favorites like the Menorcan chowders to an assortment of New England chowders – made with clams, conch, lobster, scallops and crab and laced with secret concoctions of herbs and spices. The event starts at noon and runs throughout the day. All proceeds benefit the Shriner’s Hospitals for Crippled Children. For info: 904.829.8646

World Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Experience an evening of celebration and ceremony as the Class of 2009 is inducted in to the World Golf Hall of Fame in front of family, friends, fans, other Hall of Fame members and media from around the globe. The Class of 2009 Inductees include Lanny Wadkins, a 21-time PGA TOUR winner and eight-time U.S. Ryder Cup Team member; Christy O’Connor, winner of 24 titles on The European Tour, and eight on the senior circuit; two-time Masters Champion Jose Olazabal, and the late President Dwight D. Eisenhower, whose visibility, coupled with his passion for the game, were the inspiration for literally millions of people picking up the game for the first time. The ceremony will begin on the Hall of Fame’s outdoor stage at 6pm and is free and open to the public. 8th Annual Ponte Vedra Winefest
Join in the “Bella Sera,” a celebration of Italian food & wine as the Ponte Vedra Beach Chamber of Commerce presents their 8th Annual Winefest at the Sawgrass Golf Resort and Spa, A Marriott Resort in Ponte Vedra Beach. On Friday evening, enjoy the kick-off dinner as Chef Brett Smith prepares fine Italian favorites, accompanied by Banfi Vintners finest. On Saturday, enjoy an exhibit of Vietri Pottery and a marketplace, then participate in the Grand Tasting, featuring a collection of fine Italian wines. First Friday Art Walk
Enjoy the latest exhibits, music, entertainment and refreshments at over 20 participating galleries. At 6pm, Rodney Cleveland, organist and choirmaster of Lakewood Presbyterian Church will present a free organ recital at the Cathedral Basilica. Tours begin at Rembrandtz American Craft Gallery. Galleries are open from 5 to 9pm. St. Augustine Sightseeing Trains and Old Town Trolleys offer attendees a complimentary shuttle service to most of the galleries. Shuttles run on a continuous loop every 30 minutes. Admission is free.

Linconville Festival
Celebrate St. Augustine’s rich African-American heritage at this festive event! Live musical entertainment, food, arts & crafts and narrated tours of the historic Lincolnville district are featured. Not only was Lincolnville the setting for momentous Civil Rights events in the 1960s, more than half of its buildings date from a black community established in the late 19th century. Funds raised from the festival will be used for exhibits at the Fort Mose Museum. Lincolnville Festival is free to the public and takes place at Francis Field on Castillo Drive in St. Augustine. Other Words: A Conference of Literary Magazines, Independent Publishers and Writers
Be a part of the literary scene during this conference for writers and publishers. On Friday, Michael Waters and University of Tampa Press writers  Jordan Smith, Jenny Browne, and Peter Meinke will lead a panel discussion. Emma Concert - Die Fledermaus (The Bat)
Enjoy a performance of Jacksonville Lyric Opera’s production of this lighthearted 19th century operetta based on the comedy, Das Gefangnis (The Prison) about misunderstandings and comical revenge. A cast of leading artists from the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Covent Garden, and La Scala, among other international opera companies, will perform in Die Fledermaus. Concert is held at Flagler College Auditorium and begins at 8pm. Admission is $30.

A Veterans Celebration
Celebrate America’s War Veterans during a presentation of the locally produced documentary, “Korea: Forgotten War, Remembered Heroes” featuring the stories of five Florida First Coast Korean War Veterans. This entertaining event will also have patriotic singing, dancing, comedy and the stories of our local veteran heroes. The Veterans Celebration takes place at Flagler College Auditorium. Admission is free and a free shuttle from the St. Augustine Historic Downtown Parking Facility to Flagler College Auditorium will be provided by Old Town Trolley Tours.  Event begins at 3pm and admission is free. Emma Music Master Lecture/Recital
with Dr. Randall Tinnin
Join Dr. Randall Tinnin, Assistant Professor of Trumpet/Cornet and Director of the Brass Ensemble at the University of North Florida for a program that will include a performance by the Serafini Brillanti, a trio composed of trumpet/cornet (Dr. Randall Tinnin); his wife, soprano/actress (Rhonda Nus Tinnin); and pianist (Curtis Powell). The trio will play music from the Baroque era to Broadway show-stoppers. Event is held at the Flagler Room at Flagler College. Hours are 7 to 8:30pm. Admission is $20 for lecture series ticket, or $6 at the door. Students are free.

The Pirate Gathering
Avast, me hearties! T’is a celebration of the Golden Age of Piracy in old St. Augustine. Three days of swashbuckling fun begins on Friday evening as pirates from around Florida wander the streets of the old city. On Saturday and Sunday, from 9am to 5 pm, Francis Field will be swimming with swashbuckling fun games for the kids, Pirate Games, a thieves market, Ocean displays, pirate floats and plenty of music and magic. On Saturday at 11am a parade of Pirate Floats will cruise along St. Augustine’s bayfront and end up at Orange Street, across form the Castillo de San Marcos where a Pirate Battle will begin. The skirmish will lead from the Orange Street Redoubt along St. George Street to the Plaza de La Constitucion.
